BABA DOCHIA’S LAMB-Mini original

BABA DOCHIA

Baba Dochia is a legendary figure from Romanian folklore who symbolizes the transition from winter to spring. In the story she sends her daughter-in-law on an impossible task with black wool and later climbs into the mountains with her flock of sheep, wearing many heavy coats. As the weather warms she sheds them, but an unexpected frost catches her and the sheep, turning them to stone. This tale connects to Zilele Babelor from 1–9 March, when people watch the weather to predict their year, and to the ancient black-and-white string — the early form of the mărțișor, representing the cycle of days and the change between cold and warmth.
